In the 1980's David Lynch was the Director that opened eyes by making art out of film. With a TV show and films Lynch made everyday life into the surreal. In Blue Velvet he takes a young kid and makes him a detective in a strange world that was just behind the curtains of his small town he called home. The cast is one of the best for this kind of film with the king of freak Dennis Hopper as the psychotic criminal Frank Booth. And Isabella Rossellini plays her part in this mystery as a lounge singer named Dorothy Vallens. What do these two have to do with the human ear our young would be detective (Kyle MacLachlan) found in the grass? Can his school friend (Laura Dern) help him find out without getting herself hurt by this world of drug abuse, kidnapping, and sexual violence? This film gave Lynch his second Academy Award nomination for Best Director, as well as Rossellini a jump in her film career. Now this film is known as one of the worlds Cult Classics.
